A long farewell, but not forever;
The grave may hold her lifeless form,
But can retain the spirit – never!
Beyond the reach of every storm
She lives where blessed angels are,
And wears the crown that angels wear.

Grim death unlocked the golden portal,
And let her happy spirit through;
She knows the bliss of life immortal;
She views the scenes which angels view.
And truths so faintly shadowed here
In Heaven’s pure light are bright and clear.

Weep not for her, O drooping mourner;
Rather rejoice that she has gone
Where grief and pain can never harm her;
She woke to meet a glorious dawn
The morning of a cloudless day
Whose golden light fades not away.
